Goodie-Goodie Smoothie, borrowed from the Good Earth

M’kay, I borrowed this one from the Good Earth in Fairfax — it’s a sweet, creamy smoothie with some nutty heft. I made some modifications, mostly in the form of open-ended suggestions. Something about the physical exertion of the laundromat yesterday prompted a quick onset smoothie craving. Avoided the oh so good I Am Luscious and popped back home with my laundry instead. Smoothies are difficult to get at home because they use so many ingredients that go bad so quickly. This concoction is super simple and requires only one easily perishable food item to boot — the bananas.

The Goodie-Goodie Smoothie
One to two bananas (the more the frothier, which some like, but I don’t)

Two dates, medjool preferably and don’t forget to take out the pits

Almond butter (a fat spoonful). I use Artisana Raw Almond Butter, but I am after all a bit partial.

Water or almond milk. If you use water, add a dash of salt.

Vanilla extract, a squirt

Your favorite spices. This time I included cardamom and cinnamon. Always use some cinnamon and use more cinnamon than the other spices, and then throw in the teensiest pinch of turmeric (weird but true) to top it off.

A handful of ice

Blend and enjoy! I think they call it a chai-almond smoothie at Good Earth. You can just call it tasty.
